We have plane tickets!!

We depart for Africa from San Francisco on January 27th! It's just under 3 months away but time is feeling really short to us. We've started packing and selling some stuff too, so that's easing the stress. No bites on the house yet, so we'll start talking to people about renting it out for the time being. Maybe that's the better financial move for us in the long run anyway - who knows.
Anyway, thank you all who are playing a big part in this venture - we are so incredibly blessed by the love and support we've received.

Soccer is done!

Well, after a good run over the past 5 years, 'Pumas' run at the top of La Liga del Valle came to an end today. We've had this team together for 5 years and won 3 championships, but our age finally caught up with us as we were knocked out in the first round of the playoffs 3-0.
I have really enjoyed the friendships I've made and learned a lot from the talented group of players we had. We have a lot of good memories, probably the most notable being the night we "shocked the world" (yeah right!) by beating the local semi-pro team 3-2 under the lights in Ashland 2 years ago.
Alisha snapped a few photos today during and after the game. Just for clarification, Graysen did not play on the team even though he appears on Jorge's shoulders in the team photo! The team was always so kind to the boys.
I love the picture with the Medford "skyline" in the background! Probably the thing I'll miss the most though is the boys running out onto the field at halftime and after the games so I can throw them into the air!
I'm really hoping I can find a place or team to play on in Kampala. I think it would be a great way to not only stay in shape, but also to connect with the local people.

Goose ("Patty") finds a home!

Well, after over a month of living in our Bedroom and Garage, our little rescued cat found a home! And actually, the funny part is, it's her original home! It turns out that Vivian, the lady who runs the Senior Daycare place across the street took over care of this cat and her sister several months ago from someone who wasn't taking care of them (which is why she was so skinny and shy).
So Alisha was talking to her yesterday and the topic came up, so Alisha mentioned that we had a "lost" (read "kidnapped") cat in our bedroom...and sure enough, Goose was hers (her real name is Patty). So Vivian and her senior residents were ecstatic to have their cat back!
And though we loved little Goose, we were ready to be back down to one cat, as was Kitty, who would have nothing to do with Goose. So, one cat relocated, one cat to go! :) / :(
